In this game, the goal is to find the car which costs the most and has the least HP. It can have as many options as wanted but MUST BE A NEW CAR. My contender is the E250 Bluetec. It has 195HP and I got one up to $86,388. This means it costs roughly $453/HP. Lets see who can beat that!

I did a "what's the most expensive FWD car on the market" post like a month ago, and this won.

I mean, it's a good concept, but bad execution.

It's a shame, I saw one in person yesterday, they're drop-dead gorgeous.
Too bad it doesn't have the drivetrain to back it up.

Aston don't give prices on their website, but a Cygnet costs at least £31k ($52k) without any options. I suspect a fully-loaded one is getting on for £50k, which is about $85k at the moment. It has a whole 97 bhp.
Even without options, that's $539/hp. With every box ticked, more like $850/hp.

What would you have put in it? I'm thinking twin turbo V6 from the CTS Vsport

That would literally be the perfect amount of power for a car that size. All they have to do is drop the engine in the middle of the car, and it'd be perfect.

I was just thinking that some really expensive cars with lots of power might be good bets here. If it costs ten times as much as the Merc in the OP, it would have to have 2000bhp to have more bang per buck.
Hmmm. The Maybach Landaulet costs $1.3m and has 620bhp, so $2100/hp.
But the Lambo Veneno only has 130bhp more (for a total of 750) and costs $4.5m. That's a whacking $6k per bhp.

If classics and older cars were allowed (which they're not), this would be hard to beat:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolls-Roy…
Since it last sold for £millions, and only has 10hp, it must be in with a shout...

I just did the math:
A fully specced Nissan Leaf has more horsepower per dollar than this! Yes, at ~$353/HP the Leaf is a real good ol' fashioned muscle car compared to this!
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

I got a smart fortwo cabriolet electric up to nearly $33,000. With just 27hp, that's $1214 per hp. Wow.

Dsscats, no! You're actually making some uninformed people out there want to buy these cars and waste their money! Just look at the Porsche Cayman. Go ahead and look at it and tell me that is an intriguing new car buy after the options vs performance.
This current purchase model needs to be abolished. And we wonder why these cars are so slow on the highway. They're weighed down by options aka "car fat".

Like Rusto said, can't think of one. I find it weird that none of the big three do currently make one, they have so much potential.

I just priced an 85hp Audi A1 to £27,880. That's $47,030 or about $553 per hp.

I agree. If they wanted to I'm sure they could make something quite special.
